© Peter Stanger This image clearly shows the fold up construction method and shows the prototypical inner and outer rigging on the tender sub chassis. The brake hangers and shoes are realisticaly close to the wheels with no risk of short circuits. The compensation beams can be seen on the leading and middle axles. The brake gear assembly is removable to allow wheel fitting and removal.

In testing we've found that the rolling resistance (stiction) of this chassis is significantly lower than the chassis supplied with the kit. This makes a considerable difference to the performance of the J21, NER class C and J25 NER class P1 locos. This tender as built with the white metal block sub chassis weighed 90% of J21 and J25 locos. A reduction in the weight of the tender and all wheels being mounted in axle bushes significantly improved the load hauling capacity of the J21 and J25 models while using this chassis.
