Photo © Peter Stanger. 02/12/2008 This is version 2 of the pre-production Eas-Rider J27 EM Gauge loco chassis. It now has full profile frames where these are visible above the footplate, significantly enhancing the appearence of the chassis. Full profile frames hide the back of the driving wheels. This version has all 6-wheels compensated and runs very well on the test track. The EM version pictured is wide enough to accomodate a Mashima 1420 motor. This version did have one or two minor faults which have been corrected on the master. Version 3 will be the full production version and will be offered for sale. This chassis along with our new tender chassis is now available direct from 52F Models.

This above shot shows the prototypical brake gear arrangement with the correct proportion pull levers, shackles and brake pull rods. The ashpan bottom was cut away to show the rear compensation unit incorporating the drive train. The hornblock arrangement for the leading driving axle can be clearly seen.

View showing the new brake gear and rigging from the underside. Compensation beams are clearly visibly in this photo. Brake shoes are prototypical in shape and the levers on the rigging have the correct 3-2-1, 2-1 and direct pull proportions. This does enhance the model's level of detail below the footplate. The chassis was designed around scale 3'-9" wheels " (Ø15.00mm) but Ø16.00mm wheels can be fitted if these are not available. With Ø16mm wheels, the brake shoes are realisticly close to the rims without actually coming into contact with the wheel rims.
